Bowman Gum issued their first set in 1948. The fronts are black & white photos of the players. The backs are numbered and have the players name and bio. 12 cards are considered short prints when they were removed from the 36 card sheets to print the higher numbers. Due to the fact that the last major set issue was in 1941 by Play Ball, the 1948 Bowman set contains several key rookie cards. However, due to the lackluster black and white colors, this set is not highly sight after in comparison to other vintage Bowman sets.
