Set Description
Topps issued this set in 1953, the front feature an artist rendering of the player with the team logo. Backs are numbered and have the player’s bio and stats. For the first time backs have a trivia question. Cards #221-280 are high numbers and scarce with the short prints even scarcer. Because of the competition with Bowman the 1953 Topps baseball card set is missing 6 cards. The original players slated for those cards signed exclusive contracts with Bowman. The set consists of 274 baseball cards numbered 1-280. Cards not issued are: 253, 261, 267, 268, 271 and 275. This set is known for it’s beautiful artwork and is highly sought after by collectors, especially in high grade.
